Meet Our Leaders

I am an Assistant Lecturer and currently work at the University of Dire Dawa in the department of Psychology. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Education Degree in Pedagogical Science and English as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Developmental Psychology.

I work for Global Communities Rwanda where I am in charge of financial services. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration specializing in finance. I am the founder of Behavior Change Fellowship of Leadership, through which I mentor high school students.

I work with Global Health Corps as an operations associate. I also volunteer with the Rotaract Club of Makindye in Uganda and the African Youth Union. Rotaract is a non-profit organization, which fundraises for, and implements, community empowerment projects. I serve as the Treasurer of the Rotaract Club.

I am a feminist who is committed to bring change in women's lives. I am currently working with more than 500 women, training them in health, leadership and entrepreneurship skills.

I am a medical laboratory coordinator and currently run a medical clinic in a Kampala slum area known as Kisenyi. I use my background to serve as a volunteer with medical missions in northern Uganda. I am also involved in reviewing the curriculum for the National Council for Higher Education in Uganda.

I am a social entrepreneur, and the founder and executive director of Emerging Leaders Foundation, an organization that focuses on empowering young people to be agents of change. I have over 14 years’ experience in youth empowerment work in Africa. I am a holder of a Master of Arts degree in International Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.

I am a women’s and girls’ rights activist. I believe in second chances. I am who I am today because I was given a second chance to pursue my education after having been a victim of teenage pregnancy at the age of 15. I want to help other victims of teenage pregnancy pursue their education and to reach their full potential.

I am a doctor as well as a human rights activist. Through an NGO that I founded, I work to improve children's lives, specifically by improving their access to education. I support initiatives which aim to make women independent and give youth access to training.

I am the founder of Green Generation Association, an environmental organization that aims to inspire youth to take action to make the world a better place. I also volunteer for African Youth Initiative on Climate Change, which aims to ensure engage youth in environmental conservation.

As a recent graduate with a law degree, I have big dreams that sometimes make people consider me a little crazy. My parents have come to understand that I will never be average; I want something more. I am passionate about the rights of persons living with disability. At the end of my life, I want people to know that I lived and loved.

I am a civil servant and a social studies tutor at the American School in Brazzaville, as well as a consultant and trainer at the International Committee of the Red Cross. I am a holder of a Bachelor's degree in human resource management and a Master’s degree in education.

I work with an initiative that aims to empower young people by developing their entrepreneurial skills. I have previously served as president of a society that fundraises and campaigns against hunger. I’ve also served as a leader of AISEC, an NGO that empowers young people with leadership skills in order to positively impact their community.

I am a master’s student of Maternal and Child Health at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and I work part-time as a problem-based-learning facilitator. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a post-graduate diploma in maternal and child health. I volunteer with two NGOs that provide care for chronically ill children in South Africa.

I volunteer as a Programs Director at Healthcare Rescue Centre, an NGO that promotes access to healthcare for vulnerable, marginalized and people in remote areas. I consider myself a passionate change agent in the community, working especially to support rural communities to access relevant information and knowledge.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Law and an award-winning entrepreneur with over five years experience working in the food security sector. I am skilled in value-addition, innovation, agribusiness management and fundraising.

I am a volunteer with Kampala Capital City Authority in the agribusiness and urban farming department. My work entails connecting farmers in Kampala to available, alternative market channels. I also run a book club for children between ages six and 12 years in order to build a culture of reading among youth in Kampala.

I am a student at the University of Dar es Salaam pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and Information Technology. I am intrigued by entrepreneurship and plan to start a business when I graduate from university.

For the past five years, I have worked closely with women, focusing on projects to end violence against women. I have heard so many stories about women whose lives have been disrupted by violence, and so I work to achieve a society free of violence. I am passionate about my country, and I believe, with time, we can indeed change our communities.

I am a lawyer and am also pursuing my Master’s Degree at the University of Dar es Salaam. I am currently finalizing my research to determine the relevance of laws and the response of legislation to the changing socioeconomic situation in Tanzania. As an advocate, I am committed to dispersing knowledge to others.

I am a doctor at a local district hospital in the Northern province of Rwanda. Because of my passion to have a local impact, I’m also involved in community health outreach programs. These programs help to raise awareness about health issues such as maternal and child health, reproductive health, and family planning.

I am the founder and Executive Director of Girls to Lead Africa, an incubator for female policy makers. My passion is to end injustice of any kind against women and girls, and to work towards a world where women and girls can live in dignity. I am also a 2015 Akili Dada Fellow and consider myself a politician.

I am the co-founder of two companies, Altitude Concept Limited and Afrique Prospere. Altitude Concept Limited provides information technology while Afrique Prospere offers coaching services on leadership and success-based principles. I am a holder of a Master’s degree in computer engineering.

I am an emerging entrepreneur and co-founder of Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation, a non-governmental organization. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Peace Building from Kampala International University.

As a volunteer at Family Health Options in Kenya, I am responsible for encouraging adolescents to seek reproductive health services. I use poetry and spoken word to educate adolescents and sensitize communities on health issues. I am a Public Health Graduate from Kenyatta University.

I believe that is my purpose in life is to positively impact nations socially, economically and spiritually through the performing arts. I have a vision that one day, Africa’s youth will be at the forefront of the advancement of the continent.

I am a civil engineer by training and a film maker by passion. While working at Afro-European Engineers, I was part of the team whose work led to a successful partnership with a renowned Swiss-based engineering firm. We developed an experience-sharing platform to enable more efficient and collaborative engineering problem-solving.

I am currently pursuing a a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy & Administration. I am the founder of Mark Appeal Communications, through which I have established Village-Hubs. Village-Hubs is a revolutionary social enterprise model that seeks to create innovation hubs in 47 counties within Kenya.

I am a youth leader and a volunteer with the ‘Yes Youth Can’ project in North Rift Region. I also serve as a Director and Secretary to the Board of Directors of Trans Nzoia Youth SACCO, which has over 500 members and an equity of over Kshs.14 million. In addition, I am an owner of Luctech Solutions, an information technology firm.

I am a lawyer and the author of A 'Journey through Darkness' an autobiography narrating my traumatic experience of suddenly going blind at the age of 19 years. Because of my experience, I am also the founder of Margareth Maganga Hope for the Blind, a trust I established to help visually-impaired and partially-sighted children access education and enhance their self-reliance.

I am a Project Management Professional candidate at Project Management Institute and a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. I began my career by working as a marketing clerk for Ethiopian Airlines, followed by various roles in both public and private sectors.

As a medical director working in a government hospital, my duties include ensuring all patients receive quality medical services. I am committed to providing proper and timely medical support to communities in my country.

I am a special advisor to the Pan African Youth Union and Founder of the Young Diplomats of Kenya, an association of aspiring diplomats. This platform recognizes, mentors, and empowers the next generation of diplomats. The Pan African Youth Union has successfully been adopted by the Kenyan government under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I am the founder of the Institute for Youth SocioEconomic Development, an organization that aims to empower youth to cope with socioeconomic challenges. The Institute provides youth with skills-based training, mentorship, and exposure to employment opportunities.

I am a youth trainer and volunteer with Forum for Women in Democracy in Uganda, a feminist civil society organization. I am passionate about empowering and encouraging youth and women to take on leadership roles.

With my Master’s degree in Agriculture, I intend to develop my career to ensure that all Kenyans have sufficient food. My goal is to improve food security not only in Kenya, but also in Sub-Saharan Africa. I strongly believe that once this food security is achieved, citizens of all countries can contribute to growing the African economy.

I work as an environmental conservationist, trying to raise awareness about wildlife conservation with visitors to the Nairobi National Park. Separately, I mentor and tutor secondary school students between ages 14 and 18 years in order to help them with certain subjects they find difficult or challenging.

I am a journalist and a holder of Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations. With this background, I founded and serve as the managing director of Real Woman, a national magazine that covers women's issues across the whole of South Sudan. The magazine is available to South Sudanese living in the diaspora.

I am a software developer and a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. I developed a software for Sudan's first online directory of schools. I volunteer with a social enterprise which works to create the largest pool of social change leaders in Sudan, and even in Africa.

I am co-founder of Swiss Link International Limited, a start-up changing the dynamic face of the transport sector. By offering e-ticketing services, plus an engagement of eco-tourism, I harness the values of entrepreneurship to improve Africa’s development.

I am the founder of White House English club, a forum for people to improve their English communication skills. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in English, and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications. I am also engaged in giving back to my community, including working to empower women and orphans.

I am co-founder and director of Media and Communications for the African Network of Youth Policy Experts, building on my volunteer experience as a communications intern with the United Nations Resident Coordinator`s Office in Tanzania. I am a holder of a Diploma in Public Sector Financial Management and a final year sociology student at the Open University of Tanzania.

While I am an auditor, I am passionate about creating awareness on the dangers of illegal migration among youth. I am a graduate of Halhale College of Business and Economics.

Using my training as a doctor, I was instrumental in the establishment of Olenguruone Hospital theatre, an intervention that more than tripled the number of deliveries recorded at the hospital greatly reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity. Additionally, I’m a member of the board of directors of Bethel Faith Home and Training Centre, which cares for over 70 orphaned and vulnerable children.

I am a lecturer of law at Debre Berhan University. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Addis Ababa University and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Law at the University of Mysore in India.

I am a Kenyan Spoken Word Poet as well as the Internal Structure Lead of Jamlab. Jamlab is a co-creation community for secondary school students and graduates in Africa. The community is dedicated to helping young people to imagine and to create new things that make the impact they envision for their world.

I work as a senior bank officer in finance, and would like to start a consulting firm in the near future. I am involved in organizing motivational talks and one-on-one sessions geared at grooming and mentoring young people in my community. I am a firm supporter of entrepreneurship as a way to for those who cannot depend on a pay check to make ends meet.

I am the chief executive officer of a consulting firm for architects. I am an architect and town Planner by training, having graduated from the African School of Crafts Architecture and Urbanism of Lomé in Togo. I am also a part-time lecturer at the University of Bangui, where I teach architectural and computer science courses.

I am a visual storyteller specializing in documentary films, graphic design, and animations. My goal is to apply my creative arts skills to transform the way civil society organizations communicate.

I am a community leader who is passionate about youth leadership, and inspiring and raising a critical mass of young leaders who are able to make informed decisions. I give motivation talks to high school students and youth who are keen to improve their leadership skills.

I am a lecturer at Amoud University in Somaliland, part of northern Somalia. I am also a consultant who mainly provides services to public institutions and local non-governmental organizations.

I am the Executive Director of a CBO that focuses on civic education and civic engagement. Over and above empowering local communities about their civic responsibility and rights, I lobby the Somali government to formulate and adopt policies that effectively represent its citizens.

I currently work as a program officer for a rural financial services program at the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency. I am an economist by training and hope to develop my career within the agricultural and food security sector.

I am the founder of PACT, an organization that helps youth tackle challenges such as unemployment, migration and extremism. I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School in the United Kingdom and I am already a holder of a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.

I earned my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Rwanda. I currently work to support youth entrepreneurs as they build their business initiatives.

I am a banker by profession and holder of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. I am committed to the development of my country, especially in the area of engaging youth.

I am a clinical psychologist by profession. I am personally passionate about youth leadership and entrepreneurship. My mission is to empower and mentor both girls and women, particularly those living in the rural areas.

I am an accountant at the Institute of Banking and Investment Services Africa. I am in the process of setting up a foundation that aims to improve women’s access to affordable financial services. My long term goal is to play a role in providing financial support to people in the agricultural sector.

I am a journalist and currently work as a Parliamentary Editor for the Standard Media Group. I have been reporting politics, public policy and development consistently for the past eight years. My personal philosophy is to change the world one story at a time, and to use storytelling to impact policies, laws and lives.

I currently work as a research associate and am a forensics and mobile computing expert. In my free time, I work with youth in my community to enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

I am an engineer by profession and also work as a freelance financial analyst focusing on feasibility studies. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Khartoum, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the same university. I am a certified project management professional, accredited by the American Project Management Institute.

I am a human resources officer and currently work with Catholic Relief Services Sudan. I am passionate about capacity building, change development, poverty reduction and humanitarian work.

I am founder of Sozo Kenya Initiative, a non-governmental organization that provides social and economic empowerment to youth, women and persons with disability through education and mentorship. In 2013, I vied in the general election as a Member of the County Assembly. I was the only female and emerged in second place. I have a hunger to see sustainable initiatives and reliable infrastructure developed in my county of Kajiado. I am a social activist and a proud mum.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Law. I am founder of Pitch a Dream, an organization that fosters the appreciation of education. The organization cultivates a culture of reading by donating books and providing mentorship to schools in rural areas.

I work at Dandelion Kenya in Nakuru, enabling girls’ access to sexual, reproductive health, and rights information and services. I have engaged with various global policy processes and I am a young leader at Women Deliver. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science and Technology.

I am a clinical officer and work as a manager at a health center. I am currently studying public health through the Distant Production House University. I have more than 10 years’ experience in clinical and health care provision. Professionally, I serve as the Country Coordinator of the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning.

I am a development practitioner who utilizes a human rights-based approach to development. Previously, I volunteered with the UN Mission in Liberia, where I supported the country's post-conflict recovery effort in promoting rule of law. I also worked with the Government of Ethiopia in establishing a regional peace support center.

I am the Assistant Director of Africa in The Hague International Model United Nations, an organization in which youth connect and are empowered to become future leaders. I am also a student at the African Leadership University.

I am a program leader at the Natural Resource Management and Research Program and a holder of a Master’s Degree in Soil Science. I have undertaken crop-related training in Japan and Philippines, an experience which has greatly influenced my contribution to crop research.

I am co-founder of Impact Woods Ltd, a wood solutions company. I am a holder of a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery. Using my education, I volunteer as a creative director in Young Health Advocates Initiative, a cancer awareness and screening non-governmental organization.

I am passionate about women’s empowerment and educating the girl child. I was selected as a 2014 MILEAD fellow and was named among Africa’s emerging women leaders because I founded SCEED Uganda, an organization to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators in rural areas. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics.

I currently work for the Kenya Future Leaders Program, a volunteer program launched by the Office of the President and Ministry of Education. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Strategic Management.

I am also the founder of Tonics Foundation, a philanthropic organization that aims to empower people as an approach to achieve a better world. I recently graduated from high school, and I am currently taking a gap year to discover life and establish my dream projects.

However, I’m passionate about empowering women, especially as related to female genital mutilation, rape, and forced early marriages.

I am founder of Begin Life Safely, a pilot project with the mission to reduce infections during childbirth. I also work as a water, sanitation and hygiene consultant, and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Population Health.

I am a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree and currently work as an education program director for a non-profit organization. I advocate for the rights of children to access education, and I have been engaging in awareness campaigns to encourage parents to send all their children to school, including their daughters.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Conservation and Natural Resource Management. With my education, I am dedicated to working with local communities to implement projects and initiatives that properly utilize natural resources and protect the environment.

I am the county trade development officer at the County Government of Kwale, where I head the division of trade, and enterprise development. As a trade expert, I design and implement programs, and develop policies that promote trade and enable micro and small enterprises to thrive. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, specializing in finance.

I am an assistant coordinator at Uganda Poverty and Conservation Learning group. My role is to promote dialogue and foster learning about the links between biodiversity conservation and poverty. I have earned a Master’s degree in Education for Sustainability.

I am an intern responsible for data entry at Education Development Centre and am currently pursuing a Diploma in Business Management at Gretsa University. I am an ambitious, hardworking, result-oriented and self-motivated individual.

I am a human resources professional, researcher, youth advocate, and social entrepreneur. I currently work as the executive director of BRIDGE, a non-profit that empowers youth and promotes education, professional development, volunteerism, and social entrepreneurship as pathways to decent work.

I am the operations manager at United E.A. Warehouses Limited, a regional integrated logistics organization based in Mombasa, Kenya. In my free time I also run Sunshine Babies Mombasa, an online community that pools localized parenting resources and tips for mothers.

Currently, I work for an association in Bukavu. I am also a member of an association known as Ebukana, which cares for children accused of witchcraft.

I am an accountant by profession and currently work at Old Mutual. But I am also the founder of a socially-conscious enterprise, Zeus Impact, which I started to connect entities with social impact engagements. I personally believe in being a part of the change that I want to see.

I am a communications and development specialist. As a member of Tanzania Youth Forum in Agribusiness, I work with other members to champion the establishment of private-public dialogue at the district level. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology.

I am an information technology systems engineer and procurement officer at Cape 3 Services, an oil and gas company in Central African Republic. While I have a diploma in Information Technology, I’m currently pursuing an online Associate Degree in Business Administration as I’m an aspiring entrepreneur.

I am a student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Economics. My strengths are my commitment and decisive nature. I also believe in giving back to my community, since it creates happiness.

I am a trainer at the Lead Child Foundation, a non-governmental organization. I am passionate about education and look forward to helping to change Kenya’s current curriculum; I would like to see an emphasis to encourage creativity in our children rather than to focus purely on academics.

I am founder of Advocacy for Democracy, which seeks to create awareness about democracy and governance in South Sudan. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Diploma in Banking and Finance.

I am a freelance journalist and a filmmaker by profession. My ambition is to be a social entrepreneur, and empower youth in my community to come up with social enterprise initiatives that alleviate the high levels of unemployment in my country.

I am a student at the University of Nairobi. I am humble and cheerful and I love to have a good laugh. I believe that every day there is a challenge that needs me to tackle it, therefore I always ensure that I am at the right place at the right time. My hobbies are cooking, travelling and nature walks.

I am a law student at Addis Ababa University and am a member of the Yellow Movement, through which we carry out advocacy activities around the university. The Movement seeks to draw students’ attention to prejudices in our culture, and how they affect women’s roles in the community, education, career choices, and how they perceive themselves.

I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Because I am passionate about leadership and entrepreneurship, I mentor young people to ensure they have a purpose in life. I also work with young people in my community to help them start income-generating activities.

I recently graduated from high school, and now work with Engen Rwanda Limited. I am an orphan and the sole survivor in my family. I lost my parents during the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Because of my history, I am one of the founders of Youth Impact Mission Rwanda, and currently act as the organization’s spokesperson. I am also a member of ‘Never Again Genocide Association’.

I am the founder of CREDITECH DRC, and the Senior Information Technology Manager of the Economic Policy Management Program at University of Kinshasa. CREDITECH DRC is a social enterprise that works to connect poor Congolese, particularly those working in the education sector, with access to ICT through the provision of equipment and loans.

I am an activist and my passion is to promote human rights and youth employment. I work as a Program Manager at Young Women’s Knowledge and Leadership Institute Burundi. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Philosophy.

I am a final year university student majoring in Environmental Science. In 2014, I won the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Climate CoLab Popular Choice Award in the waste management contest. MIT Climate Colab Project is an online platform that harnesses new ideas from the global community about how to combat, and adapt to, climate change-related problems.

I am a projects and social innovation professional, along with being a maternal health advocate. I serve as Executive Director of Jenga Miradi Hub, an early stage business incubator helping Congolese youth to find employment. I also am a co-founder of SOS Maternal Health and Amani Institute.

I am a Program Officer of the Climate Change Adaptation Program. I am a dynamic advocate championing the rights of communities to participate in environmental conservation and decision-making processes regarding natural resources.

I am a Strategic Development Officer currently working for Aegis Trust, an international NGO that aims to fight crimes against humanity. I am inspired to give back to my community, especially by sharing the knowledge of what I have learned in order to create opportunities for young people.

As a radio presenter with Sudan Radio Service and a correspondent for Voice of America, I’m committed to telling the stories of my country. I am also a student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.

I am a doctor and currently work for Agape Medical Centers, a chain of community health Centers. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery and a Master’s of Science degree in Global Health Systems. I have organized and led more than 10 medical and surgical outreach camps for underprivileged communities in Uganda.

I am a natural leader and passionate about mobilizing people to achieve specific goals. I am not afraid of challenges, and enjoy pushing my limits to go beyond the impossible in order to find out what is possible. When I am not working as a veterinary doctor, I enjoy listening to music, stories, making friends and generally being around happy people.

I currently work at the Parliament of Uganda as an editor of the Hansard, which documents the proceedings of Parliament. I studied literature and am currently studying Business Leadership at the University of South Africa. My passion lies in empowering and supporting leaders to shine at home in their private life just as they aspire to shine in the public domain.

Presently, I’m in my final year at Kenyatta University studying medicine and surgery. I love the arts, music, theatre and poetry and in my free time I am an actress and a poet. My desire to help and serve others are the reasons I founded an organization known as AZMAO Kenya, through which I can make change in my own small way.

I am an Information Officer currently working with the National Association for the Deaf in Uganda. Despite growing up with a hearing impairment, my passion for innovation and creativity was not deterred. I also work to support children and youth, especially those living with disabilities, in Uganda.

I am an entrepreneur and currently work at Mazuri Kenya, a company I founded in 2015. Mazuri Kenya provides a reliable and affordable marketplace that links producers in local markets with customers. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Gender and Development and am also a certified public accountant.

I am a teacher by profession and also volunteer as a mentor to vulnerable girls through Pride of Being a Girl program. I am passionate about helping girls to achieve their dreams.

I currently work as an office administrator. I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance) from Kigali Independent University. I am also a part of the Rwanda Youth Organization for Sustainable Development, where I am in charge of Economic Development.

I am an office and social media administrator at UCMAS Kenya. At the moment the focus of my work is to highlight the plight of persons with visual impairment, highlighting their successes and potential. My personal mantra is to follow what I am passionate about, and if one has not found it, to keep looking and not to settle.

I am a Media Officer at Sudanese Knowledge Society. However, I am also a chemical engineer, filmmaker, writer, occasional standup comedian and a civil rights activist who is passionate about development.

I am a general manager of SEBOMAI Enterprises and founder of the youth association "Jeunesse Active pour le Royaume”. I am passionate about finding new ways of doing things because everything around us is changing, therefore forcing us to keep improving.

I am founder of YAZA Research Services, a research and consulting firm that provides consultancy and research skills training to organizations and individuals. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hargeisa, and have earned a Diploma in Information Technology.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Leadership to help me implement my ideas geared towards the improvement of education utilizing entrepreneurial and technological approaches. These approaches will not only be of benefit to youth and innovative individuals, but also beneficial to the economy of Kenya.

I have a soft spot for working with youth and women, and as such am currently working with the Norwegian Refugee Council as a Humanitarian Aid worker in Mogadishu, Somalia. I am one of the founders of Youth Umbrella, a community-based organization that works to promote peaceful co-existence of youth.

I am the founder of the Somali Civic Youth Organization, which deals with illegal immigration and unemployment of youth in Somalia. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

I am currently working at Open Learning Exchange in Dadaab, Kenya. I am committed to removing barriers to education by coordinating open and free access to meaningful learning opportunities. Open Learning Exchange has built community learning centers that make it possible for more than 440,000 refugees to access educational resources that help them to find and create meaning in their lives amidst hardship, deprivation and conflict.

I am currently working as the Head of Research and Data Analysis at the Somali Observatory of Conflict and Violence Prevention. Prior to this position I worked with ActionAid International Somaliland and Somaliland National Electoral Commission. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, and a Master’s Degree of Arts in Public Administration and Management.

I am a social entrepreneur, activist, and a 2014 Mandela Washington Fellow. I am one of the founders of Sure Steps Nursery School, a community-based nursery school that invests in local women by providing them with first aid skills, a basic education, along with child nutrition information.

I am a civil engineer and co-founder of the East African Community Youth Union, a youth-led NGO. The organization’s core mandate is to promote continuous dialogue and structured engagement between youth within East Africa. I am passionate about entrepreneurship because I believe it is the only source of real and lasting wealth.

I am an orphan; my mother passed on when I was three years old and my father passed on when I was 14 years old. I have been through some challenges that instilled in me a passion to help needy children, especially orphans and vulnerable children. I am the founder of Wings of Hope Foundation, which offers mentorship to disadvantaged children.

I have worked in war-affected areas in Northern-Uganda, where social and health services are difficult to access. I am the founder of Eco-Link, a social enterprise that is trying to alleviate poverty and social erosion in the Nyanza region of Kenya at Katuk-Odeyo. So far, Eco-Link has planted one million trees with a survival rate of 70%, and we have mentored and recruited more than 200 youths to join our cause.

I am currently working as the Communications Coordinator for Young Volunteers for the Environment Kenya. I live by Wangari Maathai’s words, "It is the little thing that citizens do, that will make a difference." My 'little thing' is planting trees.

I also had the opportunity to work as a Communications intern for the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa. I am committed to helping others realize their life’s purpose.

LakeHub offers an important step forward in developing the African technology sector for more than just (mega) urban centers. One such initiative is Village Code, which introduces computer programming to young children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

I am currently working as a veterinary service provider, offering training and advising farmers on modern agricultural technologies along with environment and natural resource management. I also provide consultative support about gender and other cross-cutting issues like HIV-AIDS. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Health and Management and a Diploma in Animal Production and Management.

I am a co-founder of Fly Sister Fly foundation, based in the Samburu community to raise awareness about the dangers of female genital mutilation and early marriage. Through the foundation, more Samburu girls progress to high school because of our work sourcing sponsors and encouraging mentorship. I am also currently pursuing a degree in medicine and surgery.

I am a nurse, currently working for Maximum Group and Global Access Health Network in Kinshasa. I am committed to the empowerment of women and girls, particularly those living in rural areas. I also seek to encourage and empower youth to develop a culture of integrity in the work that they do. I am also working to ensure that medical insurance is available to all in my country.

I am an entrepreneur, currently managing a video game studio in Kinshasa. After getting my high school diploma, I became an entrepreneur in developing video games against my parents’ will. Despite the fact that my country does not have an institution where I can acquire the technical skills, I aspire to become a video game developer by learning the techniques and skills on my own.

I am currently working as a direct manager at Mabawa Mathare, a community-based organization that I co-founded. I am the co-founder of NIA, Bow & Arrow Training, and Teach First Kenya. Each of these three organizations targets individuals at different points within the education continuum and supplements them with information of which their current education falls short. This supplementary education helps to ensure that youth are supported to succeed. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in my Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Development Studies.

I am a co-founder of MediaLink, a printing and advertising agency. I am a holder of a Master’s degree in sociology, a post-graduate diploma in banking & finance and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Project Management.  I also teach project design, banking and finance at a business school and use this platform to provide mentorship to business executives.

As a football captain, I use sports to empower youth to co-exist peacefully. I have also actively participated in the promotion of girl child education in refugee camps. I founded this company to help children who were always late and sometimes had to drop out of school because of the time they spent collecting water. The aim of the organization is to promote and strengthen the social and cultural interaction of communities through dialogue and education. My passion led me to my greatest achievement to date, which was founding the Lake State Youth Union, a resource center for youth activities.

I’m also the founder of Refugee Support project, which provides support and care to Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees residing in Uganda. I am a medical parasitology lecturer at Wolyta Sodo University, Ethiopia. I believe lack of education is the root cause of poverty, and because of this, I want to be a part of the process to solve social challenges in education and health.

Through my work, I introduced social change activities targeting idle youth in the camp. The project has so far benefitted approximately 1,000 youth between the ages of 18–35.

Professionally, I am a procurement professional, but as a survivor of emotional and physical violence, I founded Gals Forum International in order to help women who are in similar situations. Professionally, I am an economist at Rorya District Council in Mara, Tanzania. But because I’m passionate about agriculture and youth development, I founded Tanzania Youth Agripreneur, an initiative that inspires youth to venture into agribusiness.

Currently I’m a student at Kenyatta University studying community resource management. I’m also the founder of Change the Mindset, a community program aimed at empowering youth with business skills and providing free tutorial classes to primary and secondary students.

I am a marketer with MOGAS Uganda Limited, but I’m also the founder of a think-tank social group. My initiative aims to connect new graduates with potential employers. The group prepares, trains, and equips young people with life skills to enable them to favorably compete in the market.

I am a lawyer but currently volunteer at Association of Women in Business Ethiopia. Because I believe every child has the right to have quality education, through the AIESEC organization I was able to help more than 200 children access books and teaching interns.

I am a social worker by profession and currently work as a research assistant. By the time I completed my primary school education, I realized that more than half of my classmates had dropped out of school, especially the girls. This realization nurtured my passion to empower girls and ensure they remain in school and attain the highest level of education possible.

I am project manager working at Volunteer Services Overseas in Addis Ababa Ethiopia where I have been managing a maternal newborn and child health project for the last two years. I am proud to say the project has resulted in a significant reduction of neonatal mortality in eight districts of Ethiopia.

My work has been centered on activism and advocacy for freedom of speech, the rights of people with disabilities, victims of rape and female genital mutilation, and people with mental health illnesses. I co-founded the first School of Social Work, introducing social work to the Somali people; that is in fact the major legacy I am currently working on. I am the founder of Literature Africa Foundation, an organization that nurtures a culture of reading and also provides mentorship to young people. I used my educational background in journalism and mass communication to author six books, five of which have been approved for use in schools in Kenya and Uganda.

I am the Program Director of Teen Challenge Uganda, an organization that helps people who have life-controlling behaviors. The organization runs two residential homes for men and women, with a bed capacity of 30 beds respectively. We also run an outreach program that touches over 100 young people through schools and crisis care centers. I am a holder of a Diploma in Christian leadership.

I currently work as an Operations Manager at Bless A Child Foundation Uganda. I am also part of the Patient Support Working Group, which helps to spread awareness about cancer. In Uganda, more children are dying of cancer and cancer-related illnesses and yet public information and communication about the disease remains almost nonexistent.

I am a Program Officer at Educate!, a social enterprise that addresses youth unemployment through practical skills training in leadership, entrepreneurship, and mentorship. More than 8,500 youth have benefited from the program, with more than 60% of them running either business or community projects while still at school.

I am a Programs Officer at Women and Rural Development Network in Pader District in northern Uganda, an area that was ravaged by war. I took an interest in HIV/AIDS after observing the magnitude of its impact on my community. I noticed the impact that HIV/AIDS has particularly among women and adolescent girls who disproportionately account for 70% of all new infections in Uganda.

My passion for the environment led me to serve as a co-founder of Rwanda Biodiversity Media Group which uses a communications platform to create public awareness about biodiversity conservation. While I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Conservation, I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Geo-Information in Environment and Sustainable Development.

I have a strong conviction that investing and empowering youth, especially young women, is the avenue to developing a prosperous society. Because of this passion, I volunteer with the National Union of Women in my country as a contribution towards empowerment of women. I also currently work as a coordinator of gender awareness programs for higher education institutions.

I am founder of a mentorship program, through which we visit schools to encourage children to take charge of their lives. As an alumna of my primary school, I am in charge of mentorship of the children currently studying in the school. Through this initiative we have facilitated the sponsorship of approximately 200 children so that they may continue attending classes.

I am founder of 42 Plus Foundation, an organization that advocates to empower youth in order to create a driven society. I want to develop an incubator program to provide juvenile offenders with a platform to empower themselves after they are released from prison. I am founder of an adult learning project that supports members of the community who would like to complete their primary or secondary education. There are few adult learning centers in Kenya, and fewer have qualified teachers to tutor the students. Our project uses a model in which professional teachers from nearby schools tutor the adults at an affordable rate.

I currently work as an assistant lecturer in clinical pharmacy at the University of Gondar. Working in an academic institution provides me with an opportunity to be a role model and teach younger generations who are the backbone of my country’s development. As a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and as a healthcare provider, I have an opportunity to help the community to address major health problems thorough research.

In my country, population growth coupled with changing climate conditions has drastically affected natural resources and the socioeconomic infrastructure. In collaboration with a friend, we developed a proposal which suggests ways of reducing the negative effects of environmental degradation, and I am eager to begin implementing the proposed recommendations.

I am a lawyer by profession and I currently support teenage mothers by volunteering for a local nongovernmental organization. We provide help so that teenage mothers are able to bring up their children while continuing their education at the same time.

I am the founder of a project called Pharmaceuticals Compounding Unit and Improving Clinical Pharmacy Service in northern Ethiopia, Amhara region. The project has so far had a significant impact by improving the quality of health care in the region. The project also seeks to prevent ineffective treatment or toxicity of medications by educating caretakers about the appropriate dosage of medication for children.

I am the president of the National Association of Pharmacy Students. I was born in Uganda and grew up in a refugee camp. Because of my background and experience as a refugee, I vowed to be a human rights activist. I conduct advocacy activities through the Rwanda Youth Task Force and the pharmaceutical students association.

I am currently working with Catholic Relief Services as a Pharmaceutical Management and Supply Chain Specialist for an HIV/AIDS project. Together with other partners, we collaboratively work to ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality care in both regional and district health facilities.

I am founder of Bio-Pane World Company, which provides access to clean, green, and renewable energy to people living in the rural areas. I am a human rights advocate working as a Program Assistant at the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Kenya. I have extensive experience in governance and advocacy. My greatest accomplishment to date is creating awareness about human rights at the grassroots level.

I am passionate about global and public health issues, and keen on supporting efforts to find solutions. I am a Project Manager and a holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology and Tourism. I also co-founded Raifaisen Cooperative, a non-profit organization which supports young entrepreneurs through a micro-finance scheme. In addition, I provide financial services and conduct feasibility studies required by banks in order to approve funding.

I am co-founder of Irise Uganda, an organization that advocates, supports, assists, and advises women, with a current focus on issues surrounding menstruation. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Through Irise, I have been able to train 38 student activists and employ 20 women in the reusable pad enterprise, and another 10 as health educators. So far, Irise has reached 8,000 girls and we plan on reaching many more.

I’m the co-founder of the Muslim Youth Vision Association and I am also a radio presenter at Radio Buja FM. My radio show focuses on problems youth encounter in our society, such as unwanted pregnancies, HIV/AIDS, and other community issues. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering. I am the founder of New Horizons Engineering and Management, a private limited company. My company is currently studying the use of bamboo, because Ethiopia has 67% of Africa’s bamboo resource. Our goal is to use bamboo as a source of energy, water, and air purification, while simultaneously creating employment opportunities.

I am the Executive Director of Youth Creativity @Hand Uganda (YCH-U), a not- for-profit organization that trains youth and women with practical skills such as tailoring and fashion design, cookery and food hygiene, crafts-making, hair dressing, decoration, and working on computers. I am the Project Director of Kibaale Child Development Centre and I also serve as the Chairperson of the Rakai District Youth Council. I volunteer as the President of the English Department at the Kuvuna Foundation Youth Leadership Institute. In this role, I oversee more than 50 people. Additionally, I host a weekly English club, and try to live up to being a leader in every sense of word.

I am the co-founder of RADIC, a community based organization that transforms the lives of the most vulnerable children in the community through mentorship. Through RADIC’s mentorship clubs, we have impacted more than 300 schoolchildren directly and reached more than 1,000 individuals indirectly.

I am the founder of Africa Environment Solutions Company – which helps farmers to access agriculture inputs in remote areas where there is poor infrastructure. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, and founder of Shalom Company – an organization that deals in design and dyeing of African fabric. At Shalom, we also offer training to women and youth from the surrounding community to learn the technique of making African fabric. The aim is to create more job opportunities for women and youth in the Bukavu region.

I have just completed my studies and I am scheduled to graduate in December 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Political Science and Public Administration. I am the founder of Campus Lady Magazine, a platform that gives female students in universities and colleges in Kenya, a place to tell their stories. We highlight different issues affecting young women including; weight and its associated stigma, early pregnancies, and abortion among others. Currently, over 3,000 students access the magazine. I recently completed my studies towards a Bachelor’s degree in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics.

I am a consultant focusing on curriculum development for children. I believe the change Africa needs is only possible, if we impact children and educate them. I plan to build a network of caregivers trained to educate children and take care of them. My focus will be in promoting values of integrity and the understanding of the rights of children. Each year, one million young people graduate from universities and colleges across Kenya. Only 20,000 jobs are available for graduates every year. Majority of the graduates remain unemployed and disillusioned, I want to create employment opportunities through blue collar jobs for unemployed youth. For the last seven years I have been working as a university lecturer. I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Pharmacoepidemiology and Social Pharmacy. I have a keen interest in the healthcare field and aspire to become successful in this area and to impact the community through my work.

I was born and raised in a county in Kenya that has the highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS infections and high levels of poverty. My motivation to study journalism was largely based on the need to tell the story of my home county and sensitize the community to aspire to live better healthier lives. I am a freelance multimedia journalist. I am originally from Goma, in Eastern DRC, however, since January of 2016 I have been living in exile in Lome, Togo, due to my human rights and democracy web-activism. I am founder of the Goma Web Activism Summit, an annual gathering that brings together web activists from across Africa. I am a holder of Diploma in Computer Science and Business Management.

I come from a large family and all of us relied on one uncle to support us. Almost all the women in my extended family dropped out of school due to lack of financial support. It is for this reason, that I have devoted my time and work to promote girls’ education. I am a living testimony of the dreams that can be achieved if we invest in education. Due to my experience working as a volunteer in the community, I reached out to TearFund and ICS and was given a grant to run a project known as Green Saves. I consider myself an innovator. When I was in high school I came up with a project on ‘generation of power from solar energy’ an idea I was able to defend in the 2008 Science and Technology for Poverty Alleviation Congress. The idea was later adopted by the government for implementation. It has since been adopted to make electricity affordable. I am an ICT enthusiast with a long standing devotion to literacy and sustainable development. I am a holder of a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering. I am currently a team leader of the enterprise business support unit at MTN Uganda. I am also a co-founder at StudyGateway, a social enterprise that is dedicated to transforming learning environment in Uganda through technology.

I am a social entrepreneur and I run an art gallery, which serves as a place where youth spend time reading books, using free internet and basically discovering their talents. I am soon expanding the gallery moving into a big space which will serve both as a training and market center for artistic and cultural activities. I was born in a small town in Eastern Nuba Mountains where armed conflict became part of our lives. My family was lucky to move to a safer place where we had access to all services including education. This is the reason I feel obliged to help those who are less fortunate. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, but I opted to work in the humanitarian field. I am a co-founder of a mentorship program for girls.

I have been in the media industry for a decade, and I have grown through the ranks making me a firm believer in the phrase that ‘hard work pays and patience can move crass to glass.’ I want to bring about change and come up with realistic solutions that will better our lives. I intend to achieve this by working in collaboration with like-minded people. I am a holder of a Diploma in Electronic Media.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Gondar University and currently work at the same institution as an instructor. I am part of a team that is developing a patient medication information manual in the local language. I hope to grow in my field and make significant contribution in the reduction drug therapy problems.

Looking at the ever increasing prevalence of easily preventable non-communicable diseases in my community like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. I am determined to play my part in the solution. I am in the process of launching a wellness center, which will focus on providing nutrition and wellness education to the general public. I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Public Health.

I devote my time to working with women and children, with a focus on maternal and child health. I work on a project that advocates for the rights of women’s access to health care services. We also create awareness on sexual reproductive health rights. So far, we have been able to reach approximately1,500 young mothers in the communities of Tanga area in Tanzania.

I have interacted with a number of disadvantaged persons in the community, and majority of them attribute their struggles to financial challenges. I believe that inculcating an entrepreneurial culture in the community will solve a number of the issues faced by vulnerable people. I am a policy communications professional. I am passionate about transformative development - which underpins the provision of critical services like healthcare and education. I am especially interested in the nexus between taxation and governance, and very excited about the emphasis that the Sustainable Development Goals have put on domestic resource mobilization - especially taxation - to finance the new goals.

I run a start-up tech company that is focused on teaching people why and how technology will improve their life. I believe the main obstacle technology is facing in Africa is that people are not aware of the role it plays. My company seeks to reach out to farmers, teachers, business owners and all cadres of people, helping them automatize their lives. I am trying to figure out solutions to problems that my community is facing and how technology can make things better.

I am a social worker and currently work with a local NGO in Ethiopia known as Wako Gutu. The work that I do focuses on transforming pastoralist communities to become agro-pastoralists, since their livelihood is threatened by recurrent drought. I am developing an initiative that offers personalized and integrated services in local languages for farmers on their mobile phones. I am a holder of a Diploma in Computer Science, and I am currently studying Political Science and International Relations.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery and currently work for UNFPA. I manage projects in the area of reproductive health in partnership with the Ministry of Health. My focus is to contribute to the improvement of the capacity of the ministry to deliver affordable quality health care to the citizens of Puntland. I currently work as a volunteer, specifically conducting community mobilization and sensitization in the area of food animal production and disease control through vaccination.

I am the founder and coordinator of the Inter-University Tax Justice Network Forum, a platform where youth seek to find solutions to challenges they face. Through this platform we seek to build a tax-conscious society through advocacy and research.

I am the founder of Nisela Group Limited, an agency that offers technical know-how in the children’s sector and in mental health. As an organization we advocate for innovative, sustainable, and best practice towards the optimal development of children and young people. I am currently at a student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. I am the founder of Kids for Planet Earth-Kenya, an initiative that empowers school children to take action on climate change through creative arts. Through this initiative more than 300 children have been selected as environmental ambassadors advocating for the protection of the environment. I am the founder and CEO of Savito Kenya Limited, a private company that seeks to improve the savings levels in Kenya by increasing financial literacy as well as partnering with financial service providers to increase the uptake of financial services.

I am a holder of a Master of Science degree in Economics and currently work as a statistician in the Ministry of Local government. I played a key role in the development of a database for the administrative data for the ministry and its affiliate agencies. I have trained more 1,000 staff from local government on civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS), a web-based application, in order to improve service delivery and production of reliable statistics.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Community Psychology from Makerere University in Kampala. I currently work as a helpline manager, with MIFUMI National Domestic Violence Helpline, which aims to ensure that survivors of domestic violence access help. Survivors who call in are referred to appropriate government agencies for support. I have also worked on the UN Joint Program on Gender Based Violence funded by UNFPA and the Global Poverty Action Fund.

I come from a country with high levels of illiteracy. My mission in life is to support efforts to increase investment in the education sector particularly education for girls. I believe investing in education will reflect in improved economic situation in the country. I was lucky to be born in a family that valued education and they supported me through my studies until this point, where I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.

I have grown up in one of the poorest countries in the world, plagued by many social challenges. Instead of complaining and watching passively, I have decided to do something to improve the well-being of my people. I am the founder and vice-president of an association known as ‘East African Candle of Hope’, which aims to promote English language among Burundians, in order to help our country integrate with the East African Community. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature.

I am a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Disaster Management and International Diplomacy. I am founder and a director of Agronutriwork Limited, an organization that advocates for empowered youth and women through agribusiness. So far, we have trained 1,200 youth and women, in African indigenous vegetable production and poultry farming. I am passionate about agribusiness and see this as a means to improve our food security.

I am a holder of a Master’s degree in International Peace Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics, and a certificate in Human Rights and Capacity Building within East Africa. I am a youth ambassador for the East African Community. I am passionate about humanitarian assistance and development, especially eradication of poverty in informal settings in the slums and rural areas.

I am a student at the University of Addis Ababa, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Law. I am the co-founder of an association that promotes improved quality in education. We aim to give power of effecting change in the education system, back to the students. Since its establishment four years ago, the association has inspired a number movements in schools, the significant one being the removal of ‘middle-men’ bringing policy makers and students together.

I am a civil servant and currently work as a financial controller in the Ministry of Finance. I am in charge of monitoring State funds and expenditures. Apart from my professional role, I am committed to the development of my community and country. I champion environmental law and improved access to education for girls. I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Environmental Law and I am fluent in Chinese.

I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Law. I am the founder and executive director of Tanzania Passion for the Needy Communities, an organization that advocates for empowerment of people living with disabilities. Our vision is to create a society that actively professes and recognizes the rights, value and dignity of every member of the society including people with disabilities. So far, we have benefited more than 1,200 people.

I currently work as an information and communications officer at Drop of Water, a non-governmental organization, which provides clean water and sanitation to those most affected by lack of access to clean water. I believe that media is one of the most influential tools and knowing how to use it in the right way is critical. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy and currently work as an assistant lecturer at the University of Gondar. I believe communities should be able to solve their own problems and with this in mind I volunteer for various initiatives. I have been involved in mobilizing more than 100 students and the community around the university to address health-related problems.

I work as a program assistant at Zanzibar Youth Empowerment Center. I am the co-founder of Mtaa Safi (Clean Streets), a social enterprise that creates awareness on environmental conservation and creation of youth employment, through street clean-ups, waste collection and recycling. I am also involved in the Global Network of Religions for Children, which aims to empower youth, particularly students to maintain peace and stability. I am passionate about girls and women’s rights and an advocate against gender-based violence and early.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science Technology and Management and a Post-Graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management. I currently work as a senior program officer with a local non-governmental organization. I am inspired to change the current state of my people, whose rights have been abused, and they are economically oppressed and live in absolute poverty. My dream is to see my community empowered and able to defend their rights.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and Humanity and currently lead an organization that provides educational and socioeconomic opportunities to disadvantage people living in refugee camps. I am also a community leader in Kakuma refugee camp, where multiple nationalities of people from East and Central Africa reside.

I was born and grew up in a small village and my early life was imbued with challenges. I overcame the hurdles that I faced and managed to pursue my education, attaining a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Addis Ababa University and a Master of Law degree in Human Rights from Central European University. I currently a law lecturer at Haramaya University. I want to contribute to my society in the creation of a conducive environment where human rights prevail.

I am a holder of a Master’s degree in Human Rights Law and currently work as a lecturer at the University of Gondar. I teach both graduate and post-graduate law students and also participate in research activities. I am involved in community service through provision of free legal aid to the poor, women, children, elderly people, persons living with disability, and persons living with HIV/AIDS.

I currently work as a project officer for a gender-based violence project, in a local non-governmental organization. I am the founder of a local organization known as ‘Literacy and Women Empowerment’, which aims to promote education and literacy among women.

I am a final year pharmacy student at the University of Rwanda and Vice President of the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation. I am also a communications consultant at the National Pharmacy Council. I am the founder of MEDInspire, an initiative that aims to perpetuate excellence in the medical profession. I am passionate about global health with a keen interest in strengthening health systems, access and affordability of essential medicines for the most deprived communities.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and currently work as a senior monitoring and evaluation officer at International Alert in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I am the founder and coordinator of CEREM International, an organization that works with approximately 2,000 students in North Kivu. Our aim is to empower the students with various skills.

I am currently an undergraduate student at Kenyatta University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering. I am also the founder of Girl Child Foundation that aims to ensure bright girls are supported to pursue their education. Through the Foundation we also teach young children ages 7-15 basic computer skills. I am passionate about innovation and technology.

My work as a teacher revealed to me that youth need more than the lessons that are taught during class. This inspired me to start, Youth Empowerment Solutions Uganda, that focuses on empowering youth living in poor rural settings. Together with 16 other youth leaders, we have been carrying out community initiatives in Sebei, Uganda. So far, we have benefitted approximately 150 families. I am a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology and a Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. My objective in life is to create a network of informed and proactive young people capable of constructively engaging in key political, social and economic decision-making processes. My aim is to share relevant information about principles of good governance with emphasis on transparency and accountability with young people.

I am a holder of a Diploma in Cooperative Management, and currently run my own business, a textile retail shop. I have had the privilege of working with various communities, most of them poor. Working in these communities helped me realize that all people want is to be able to provide for their families and themselves. I want this too and I know through business I am able to do this, while creating employment at the same time.

I was born and raised in Lokwii village in Turkana East a marginalized part of Kenya, where the nearest dispensary is 65 kms away. I am a student at the University of Nairobi, pursuing a Bachelor of Law degree. I am a member of Evergreen organization, which does community service in Turkana East and its environs. I am the outgoing class representative of Turkana East College and University Association, through which we conduct mentoring in secondary schools in Turkana.

I am a holder of a Bachelor of Education degree in Languages and Management, and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management. I am a teacher at Tushikamane Secondary School in Morogoro, Tanzania. I am co-founder of Students Support Team, through which we have been able to offer scholarships to five students, since we launched the program in January 2016. Our aspiration is to give scholarships to 10 students every year.

I am a physician from Burundi and currently work in Rwanda at a government hospital. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and General Surgery. I enjoy what I do, and cherish my contribution to the community. However, I believe that my work does not end when I provide medical treatment, and would like to see a situation where I am able to follow up with the community to ensure they remain healthy.

I am a holder of a Master’s of Law degree and currently work as an Assistant Registrar Coordinator at the school of law at University of Gondar. I also work as a legal advisor for ‘Kemant Nationality Identity and Self-Rule Recognition Quest Coordinating Committee”. I was born and raised in a minority ethnic group known as ‘Kemant’, in the north-western part of Ethiopia. Throughout my life, my community has struggled with the issue of identity and this the reason why I am keen to see the issue resolved.

I am holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and a Master’s degree in Technology. I am a lecturer at Mekelle Institute of Technology in Ethiopia. Since an early age, I was keen on maintaining an excellent academic record, because I believe that education is critical for development.

I work as a civil servant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a part-time university lecturer. My objective in life is to make a contribution towards the reforms in my country’s public administration. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance management.

I work as a project coordinator for a project known as CAPCA, which aims of improve livelihoods sustainably. Through the work that I do, I have been part of a team that mobilized 470 farmers to construct and roof their maize mills without any external financial support. The farmers were able to achieve this through their personal savings and the guidance of the team that I lead. I am a holder of Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science.

For six years I have been living as a refugee. Despite the turmoil in my country, I am hopeful that I will defy all odds and make a difference in the lives of young people. I am the founder and Executive Director of Solidarity & Advocacy in Crisis (SAVIC), an organization that promotes education, economic independence and reproductive health among youth people. I am a holder of an online-Diploma in Liberal Studies from Regis University and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Economics degree.

I am a holder of a Master of Business Administration in Marketing degree, and currently work as a Project Manager with the Ethiopian Musicians Association. My aspiration is to run my own artist management/consultancy Company, in order to empower young musicians to better manage their careers. In my current role, I developed a project through which we offer training, networking and music production to musicians.

I am a student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and co-founder of Yearning Voices Foundation, an NGO that provides training to girls and women in entrepreneurship, to empower them to start their own businesses. I am also an internal coordinator of the United Nations Association of Uganda – University Chapter, where I am in-charge of coordinating the Uganda Model United Nations conferences.

I am a holder of a Certificate in Interior Design and currently run my own business. I also work with young girls who have completed their high school education and are waiting to join university. I provide mentorship to build their life-skills and help them make informed decisions. My objective is to empower youth and help them use their potential to achieve their goals and become independent.

I currently work as a Program Director at Pangea Educational Development, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing sustainable education in Uganda. I am also the founder and executive director of Imagine Her, an organization that leverages the power and potential of every female to remain in school and be part of development in their communities.

I am a social worker by profession and a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Ethics and Development Studies. I currently work as a program officer with the department of Environment and Natural Resources in Uganda. I use my social work skills to support the community through the work I do with Rural Initiative for Community Empowerment in Uganda.

I currently work at the University of Dar es Salaam as a research associate. I am a holder of a Master of Science degree in Natural Resource Assessment and Management. I also work for a project known as ‘Mitigating Climate Change in Vulnerable Communities of Dodoma Region’. Through this initiative we have been able to reach 800 people from low income communities and they now have access to clean water and solar power systems.

Due to civil war in my country, my family was forced to flee to a neighboring country. I grew up in a refugee camp where we had no access to basic facilities. Upon returning to my country, we went back to a place where the health care system was destroyed. This reality gave me the determination to devote my work to improve the health care system in my country. I am a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.

I am a fourth-year student at the University of Rwanda, pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. I am the campaigns coordinator in the Public Health Office at Rwanda Pharmaceutical Students Association. I am a health champion, passionate about improving health literacy among adolescents and youth, particularly girls. I hope to start an organization that will empower girls by helping them to access quality education and health care.

Growing up I was affected by the civil war in my country and my family was among those that were forced to flee and move from one country to another in search of a better life. Despite these circumstances, I chose to focus on education in order to have a better life and give back to my community. I am a policy researcher and analyst in climate change, energy and gender issues in South Sudan Institute and a lecturer at the University of Juba.

I am the founder of a non-governmental organization known as Education Reach (ER), that aims to create a more inclusive, tolerant, and just society by training the next generation of leaders.

I was born in Mogadishu, but due to conflict, my family was forced to flee, and I therefore grew-up as an internally displaced person (IDP) in the Puntland region. I use my spare time to provide counselling support to women and girls who are IDPs. I am passionate about educating women and girls particularly those who have been displaced from their homes.

I was born and raised in Karusi, in the northern part of Burundi. I used education to improve my life and would like to empower other young women to do the same.
